Halloum: "The current session of UN came after 2 Palestinian victories, the Battle of Saif Al-Quds and the Tunnel of Freedom."

"I salute everyone who spoke honestly, conscientiously and responsibly in defense of the Palestinian right," said Rebhi Halloum, Secretary of Foreign Relations of the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad. This came in his statement to "Palestinians abroad", commenting on the statements of presidents that came at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In his statement, he pointed out that there are "important observations that cannot be skipped and that necessitate mentioning them and emphasizing their danger," which are some of the terms used by some speakers during the meeting, which he described as touching the essence of the Palestinian cause and emptying it from its main title, as the issue was transformed from the issue of an occupied homeland and a people uprooted from its land. Its history and Arabism and the issue of occupation to the issue of conflict.

He explained that the words were not at the required level, especially the speech of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who represents the Palestinian people, and whose speech should have been at the level of suffering the Palestinian people are facing, but his speech was below the level as he used some terms such as "the two-state solution" and "the conflict solution." Or “the resolution of the conflict between the Palestinians and the 'Israelis' ” and the phrase “a viable Palestinian state.”

And he indicated that the Palestinian issue is not a conflict between Palestinians and "Israelis", but rather an issue of a "barbaric occupation" of an Arab homeland and an invasion and "uprooting" of a people from their homeland and history, calling on all presidents and speakers to stop using the term "conflict" and replace it with the term "occupation”; he justified by saying that “the Palestinian issue is not an issue of disagreement or conflict over a commodity that is likely to be compromised through this or that mediator.”

He stressed that the current session of the United Nations came after two Palestinian victories that were imposed by the resistance, the first of which was the victory of the "Battle of Saif Al-Quds", which attracted support among world public opinion for Palestine, and the "Freedom Tunnel" operation made by the prisoners, which aroused widespread admiration and worldwide support.

He considered that this was forcing all Arab speakers to invest in their words in harmony with the expansion of global support for the Palestinian people.

The meetings of the 76th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations began on 20-9-2021 and continued until the 25th of the same month, and the meetings were held this year in presence, after they took place electronically last year due to the Corona pandemic.

During the meeting, the Palestinian cause was present in the presidents' speeches, as they discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian arena and made statements in support of the Palestinian cause.

As Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said; "Allowing the Palestinian people to live in an independent Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital on the basis of the two-state solution is the duty of the international community and the duty of the Palestinian children at least."

He added in his speech, "We will seek from our normal relations with "Israel" to facilitate the peace process and to solve the economic and humanitarian problems faced by the Palestinians, and we will continue to send humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip."

He also called on "Israel" to put an end to the violations, saying, " 'Israel' must respect the sanctity of the Noble Sanctuary and put an end to the violations."

The Prince of Qatar State, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has held the international community responsible for “achieving a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian issue by establishing a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital alongside the State of 'Israel'.” He called for ending the occupation of Arab lands and finding a just solution to the refugee issue, warning of the danger of this issue remaining unresolved.

He explained that it is not possible to marginalize the Palestinian issue on the international agenda or circumvent a "deep-rooted national issue" by putting forward ideas such as improving the economic situation of the population under occupation instead of eliminating it.

He pointed out that "the issue of the deportation of the residents of Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan neighborhoods, the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by settlers, and the angry Palestinian, Arab and international reactions came to reaffirm the centrality of the Palestinian cause and that there is no way to circumvent it."

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives and the President of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Abdullah Shaheed, said: "We want to see a fully recognized Palestinian state with all the advantages and opportunities that membership offers."

"Maldives will continue to struggle for full recognition of Palestine as an independent state," he added.
