Three entities renew calls for supporting Jerusalem, combating Israeli occupation’s Judaization plans

On Monday, 28 June 2021, the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad (PCPA), Palestine Parliamentary Committee (PPC), and Parliamentarians for Jerusalem (PFJ) held a press conference in the Turkish city of Istanbul. The event addressed the means needed to support the occupied city of Jerusalem and facing the Israeli occupation’s policy of Judaization aimed at the Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Munir Shafiq, Secretary-General of PCPA, noted that the recent upheavals in the West Bank and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, as well as the Battle Sayif al-Quds (The Sword of Jerusalem) have effected a shift within the Palestinian landscape towards a new phase, hailing the elimination of the Zionist occupation.

He added, “This is not a partial battle meant to liberate Jerusalem or the al-Aqsa Mosque alone. This battle shall not abate until the entire Palestinian territories are liberated, from the sea to the river.”

The Secretary-General Shafiq also stressed that persistent coordination with the PPC in the interest of Jerusalem and the Palestinian cause is of paramount importance.

For his part, MP Muhammad Al-Zahrawi and head of the PPC, said that the Palestinian cause is taking a dangerous turn, owing to the conspiracies being hatched against the Palestinian people. He highlighted the importance of mobilizing international and Arab support in favor of the Palestinian cause.

"The Palestinian issue will remain a priority for the Jordanian people and government, and we will confront the occupation and its plans, and reject all forms of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people,” he added.

MP Al-Zahrawi pointed that the Jordanian parliament did not sign the normalization agreement with the Israeli occupation, and 130 MPs demanded the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador from Jordan, describing the occupation as a racist state.

Dr. Muhammad Akram Al-Balawi, head of the PFJ, reiterated the PFJ’s support for all efforts in defense of Jerusalem and its holy sites, and praised as important the PPC’s role in introducing the cause of Jerusalem and the Israeli Judaization policies it is being subjected to.

For his part, Hisham Abu Mahfouz, Deputy Secretary General of the PCPA, stressed the importance of the PCPA-PPC meeting, held during political circumstances so critical for the support of the Palestinian cause.

Abu Mahfouz said that the meeting addressed means of cooperation that enhance efforts to protect Jerusalem and its holy sites. He also praised the efforts of the Palestinian communities abroad, advocating for the cause of Jerusalem on a popular and legal levels, as well as in the media.

MP Fayez Basbous affirmed that the Israeli attacks on Jerusalem are racist practices and are a flagrant violation of all religious rights. He added that the attacks brought the Palestinian cause back on track, as a central universal issue.

Basbous also valued all efforts that support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people against the Israeli occupation’s projects and defend the rights of Palestinians.

MP Ahmad Farhaneh praised the Jordanian people's defense of Jerusalem and the holy sites, as well as their solidarity with the Palestinian people, stressing that generations to come will not forget the Palestinian cause.
