UNRWA Committee in the Popular Conference calls for the suspension of agreement between UNRWA and the US administration
The UNRWA Committee in the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad rejected what was stated in the agreement signed between UNRWA and the US administration, and called for its suspension.
The committee said in a press statement, Tuesday, August 31, 2021: "We are following with great concern the contents of the framework agreement that was signed between the US administration and UNRWA on July 16, 2021."
The committee considered that what was stated expresses a political content in a human and human rights framework that confiscates the agency’s function, and dictates to the agency a program that intersects with the Zionist-American vision of finishing off UNRWA as a prelude to writing off the refugee issue and their right of return.
She added: "The UNRWA committee, while rejecting what was stated in the agreement, considers that it contradicts the slogan raised by the Agency that dignity is priceless."
The committee called on all concerned at the national and political level to confront the dangers of the agreement and to disrupt it so that it does not set a precedent that can be built upon in the future to target the refugee issue and their right to return.
The agreement stipulates that the United States of America will provide $135 million to UNRWA, provided that it is subject to US laws, which gives America an opportunity to interfere in UNRWA.
